Dawlish has a railway station, located on the sea front just 100 yards from the Marine Tavern. Trains calling at Dawlish are operated by either First Great Western or CrossCountry Trains. All the stopping services from Exeter to Paignton call at Dawlish with a limited number of through London services running to/from Paignton and Plymouth. If you are visiting Dawlish for the first time make sure you get out at DAWLISH not DAWLISH WARREN. CrossCountry Trains operate a restricted service from Dawlish on the Manchester to the South West Corridor. Full information on First Great Western services can be obtained here. By Car
The town of Dawlish is located on the A379 between Exeter and Torbay, Dawlish being 12 miles south of Exeter. If you are driving to the West Country via the M5 Motorway you are advised to exit at Junction 30 and take the A379 westbound, Dawlish is signposted and is quite easy to find. The road heads through Exminster, Kenton, Starcross before reaching Dawlish. If you are approaching from the Torbay (Paignton or Torquay) direction, take the A379 which is routed via Shaldon and Teignmouth. Dawlish is 12 miles from Torbay. If you are in Newton Abbot, use the A381 via Bishopsteignton to Teignmouth where you pick up the A379. The map on our home page when enlarged gives good coverage of the area. To locate the Marine Tavern in Dawlish head for the sea front in the main town (not Dawlish Warren) and Marine Parade is the dead-end road adjacent to the railway/seafront between the railway station and railway tunnel. The Marine Tavern is the second building in this road. Car parking in Dawlish, like any seaside towns can be difficult. Marine Parade has parking (payable by using a meter machine between 09.00 and 18.00), disabled parking is free. Make sure you purchase a ticket, the town has very active traffic officers! Overnight parking in Marine Parade is free (ONLY UP TO 09.00). Town car parks are located on the approach to Dawlish off the Exeter Road and at the rear of the town. The railway station does a have pay and display car park. Major traffic restrictions apply in the town during the Air Show and Carnival.
By Air
Our nearest airport is Exeter, which has regular flights from many UK, European and International locations. From Exeter Airport to the Marine Tavern, the easiest transport mode would be a taxi or to hire a car. On departing from the Airport take the A30 into Exeter and the A379 to Dawlish.
